What's your favorite part of Lake Vermilion?

Lake Vermilion has a thousand faces - or places - that are each different and unique. With it's 365 islands, many bays and points it has lots of places to explore and enjoy. What is your favorite place on the lake and why is it better than all the others?

With so many local community people owning homes and cabins on Lake Vermilion, we like to spend a whole day in a boat, grab lunch at a restaurant on the lake, and ride in the boat all day stopping in and visiting with our friends--and comparing outhouses when we take bathroom brakes.

My favorite part is just north-east of the north-west tip of Pine Island, near the north shore of the mainland, and to the west face of a small island that used to produce limits of walleyes back in the '80s. Max Pauchnik and I (Marty Pecarina) would troll back and forth along the weeds that extended out from that island in his blue trihull, and complain about how bad the fishing had become - and how the good old days were the best. Now, I am reminiscing about the old days when we used to reminisce about the old days.

It is hard to narrow it down! After living in MN till 1986-then AZ-I can't believe I never got to fish Vermilion till two years ago. It has now become our second home-we love the lake-we love the people and we love the FISH! My favorite part is probably the North shore of Niles-I always catch my biggest fish there!
Looking forward to another summer in 2008!
